On Thursday (12/11/14) the Foxborough High School Concert Band will perform “Celebrate, Celebration” during their Holiday Concert.
2014 marks the 20th Anniversary of the piece commissioned by The Foxboro Music Association and composed by Dan Bukvich of the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music. This video clip from April 7, 1994 is a recording of the world premiere performance by the Foxborough High School Concert Band.
Thank you, thank you, FCATV, for this replay of the “Celebrate/Celebration” Foxboro High School Concert Band 1994 premiere performance. I recall an evening of great pride among the students, family members, Foxboro Music Association, Director of Music Steve Massey and his team of music educators, Foxboro Cable Access volunteers, and our guest composer, Dan Bukvich. Rarely does such a high level of professionalism come together from all fronts, in skill and attitude, than at Foxboro Schools Music performances for way more than 20 years. This concert is evidence. I wish I could have been there this evening, December 11, 2014, for the 20th anniversary performance, but will look for the archival viewing. Warm tears of remembrance flowed here on this cold and snowy New Hampshire night as the cameras spanned the 1994 musicians, including my percussionist daughter Andi Graves, my German Youth For Understanding rental son Ralph Achenbach on trumpet, and several of my other FaceBook friends who graciously keep me in their circles.
