After 2 days of mother nature being uncooperative in and around Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the space shuttle Atlantis had a picture perfect touch down at 11:39am at Edwards Air Force Base in CA.
Several landing opportunities were waved off on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of bad weather, but Entry Flight Director Norm Knight made the decision at 10:00 am Sunday to bring home Atlantis on the second attempt, at Edwards.
STS-125 is the 126th space shuttle flight and the last one to service Hubble. Their successful 5 million mile 13 day mission to the Hubble, included 5 spacewalks to repair and upgrade the telescope and has added at least 5 more years of service life.
Next up is Endeavour and STS-127, the 23rd mission for Endeavour, the 29th to the ISS. The target launch date for Endeavour is June 13.
We hope you enjoyed pre-launch to landing coverage of STS-125 Atlantis' mission to the Hubble Telescope!
