Public Presentation of the Annual Neponset River Water Quality Report – Thurs., Feb. 6 – Canton Public Library
Learn how clean the water in your town really is! The Neponset River Watershed Association science staff will present water quality results from the 2019 Citizen Water Monitoring Network’s (CWMN) sampling season on Thursday, February 6 at 7pm in the Canton Public Library Community Room, 786 Washington Street, Canton.
This year, 52 CWMN volunteers collected 480 water samples at 41 locations throughout the Neponset Watershed, from May through October. Samples were collected from Canton, Dedham, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Foxborough, Mattapan, Medfield, Milton,
Norwood, Sharon, Stoughton, Walpole, and Westwood.
Following the report will be a presentation on per- and polyfluoroalkyl PFAS, PFOS, and PFOA by MA State
Representative, Kate Hogan, and MWRA Director of Laboratory Services, Steve Rhode. PFAS and PFOA are chemicals used in many everyday products. Science is uncovering significant health concerns, and showing that these chemicals are everywhere, including in YOUR body.
Learn more about this high-profile pollutant and the implications of a new push to begin regulating it in MA and
elsewhere.
