COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT
Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell will hold Office Hours in Foxborough Town Hall, 40 South Street on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Gala Meeting Room 10:00AM to Noon.
The Register and his staff will be on hand to answer questions or concerns about any Registry of Deeds matter. The Register will have information about the Massachusetts Homestead Act as well as computers and printers that can be used to confirm the status of a mortgage discharge, print out a deed or demonstrate how the Registry’s website works. No appointment is necessary.
This is a community outreach program sponsored by Register O’Donnell to make it convenient for residents who may have a Registry question, an interest in understanding the recording process or difficulty traveling to the Registry building in Dedham. Although the Registry staff cannot provide legal advice, they can provide answers to basic questions, give general information, provide Homestead Declaration forms, take a document for recording or confirm that a document has been recorded.
The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds, located at 649 High Street, Dedham, is the principal office for real property in Norfolk County. The Registry is the basic resource for homeowners, title examiners, mortgage lenders, municipalities and others with a need for secure, accurate, accessible land record information. The Registry land records date back to the founding of Norfolk County in 1793 and are available for online viewing. The Registry’s online index is available from 1900 forward and continues to expand to include earlier records. Complementing the Registry’s efforts to expand and increase the accessibility of land records the Registry now accepts electronically transmitted documents. “E-filing” allows a real estate professional from not only Norfolk County but from across the country to send and record documents within minutes at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds.
